What is Oxydolor 80mg
Oxydolor (Oxydolor) is an opioid pain medication sometimes called a narcotic.
Oxydolor is strong prescription pain medicine used to treat moderate to severe pain. It is used to manage pain when other treatments such as non-opioid pain medicines are unable to control the pain or you cannot tolerate alternate treatments.
Patients with chronic pain should have their dosage given on an around-the-clock basis to prevent the reoccurrence of pain rather than treating the pain after it has occurred.
What is 80 mg oxycodone used for?
Oxydolor is supplied as an immediate-release tablet and is available in 5 mg, 15 mg, and 30 mg strengths. Changing brands of Oxydolor from immediate-release tablets to extended-release tablets must be accompanied by close observation checking for signs of excessive drowsiness or slow breathing.
Oxydolor 80 mg is use to treat moderate to severe pain in patients with post-operative pain. For the treatment of severe pain requiring the use of a strong opioid. Adults over 18 years: OxyContin tablets should be taken at 12-hourly intervals.
Composition of the preparation
The active substance and excipients contained in the core are the same in all doses of Oxydolor, while the composition of the shell is different for each dose.
Oxydolor prolonged-release tablets contain 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg or 80 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride, respectively.
The excipients in the tablet core are: kollidone SR (polyvinyl acetate, povidone (K = 27.0 – 32.4), sodium lauryl sulfate, silica), microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica and magnesium stearate.
Tablet coating 80 mg: polyvinyl alcohol, talc (E 553b), titanium dioxide (E171), macrogol 3350, soy lecithin (E 322), yellow iron oxide (E 172), black iron oxide (E172), indigo carmine (E 132) , lac.
Oxydolor use
The key issue in determining the dose is the intensity of the pain and the patient’s individual sensitivity to the drug. The medicine is administered to adults, adolescents and children over 12 years of age. The most common recommended starting dose is 10 mg (or in some cases 5 mg) every 12 hours. In patients who have already taken opioids, the initial dose is determined individually.
It happens that certain groups of patients initially require the use of accelerated-release agents to better relieve pain, because Oxydolor is not suitable for immediate therapy. If in patients treated with Oxydolor it is necessary to supplement the therapy with pain-relieving drugs more than twice a day, it is necessary to consider increasing the dose, e.g. to Oxydolor 20 or higher.
When should you not use oxydolor 80 mg tablets?
Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the preparation, soy or peanuts, severe respiratory failure with hypoxia of organs and tissues and/or hypercapnia, hypercapnia, severe COPD, cor pulmonale syndrome, severe bronchial asthma, paralytic intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal syndrome, delayed gastric emptying, period breastfeeding.
